Welcome to the third instalment of our rollout series! If you’ve been following along, you’re now well on your way to a successful library system transition.
From the UK to Canada, Australia to Denmark, current technology is providing public libraries with exciting opportunities to deliver their ever-increasing range of services and build strong communities.
Softlink IC attended SWITCH 2025, held at the Western Sydney Conference Centre in Penrith from November 11–14, this event marked a watershed moment because we got the chance to showcase the Aurora Product Suite to library professionals from across NSW and beyond for four days of connection and collaboration.
Rolling out a new system (OPAC – Online Public Access Catalogue; and Administration Portal) is more than just switching on a new interface and managing it via the staff portal. For many users, the system is the entire library and its operations - it's the complete solution, the everyday resource management platform, and the system they rely on to run public library operations. So, there needs to be a smooth transition between old and new public library management software - not a disruption.
Softlink Information Centers, a Volaris Group company, has acquired Aurora Information Technology (AIT), a leading developer of software solutions for public and special libraries. Founded in the late 1990s by Doug Coulson and Martin Fisk, AIT has built a solid reputation delivering reliable and user-friendly software.
Softlink and AIT are heading to Townsville for the QPLA LEaD Conference, taking place from March 24-28, 2025! Samantha and Suzana will be at the AIT booth (B09), ready to connect with library professionals from across Queensland.
Library Management System (LMS) software is an effective solution to help companies manage their corporate content with ease, granting access to a diverse collection of research material, eBooks, manuals, journals, documents, and books. But why should businesses purchase LMS software? This blog will provide you with five great reasons why an LMS can be beneficial for organizations of any size!
This year wasn’t just about software updates or company events; it was about our customers navigating digital change with our products. Across the sectors, we noticed the main benefits our systems provided were - time-saved, manual work reduction, and improvement in both resource discoverability and reporting strength. These helped deliver clearer outcomes to our customers’ organizations for 2025.
Rolling out a new OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is more than just switching on a new interface. For many users, the OPAC is the library - it's the first impression, the everyday touchpoint, and the tool they rely on to access resources. So, when that experience changes, it needs to feel like an upgrade - clearer, smarter, faster - not a disruption.
This week, the Greater Whitsunday Alliance Crescendo event brought together library leaders and system partners in Mackay, Queensland for a collaborative discussion on the evolving needs of regional libraries.
