AURORA ASTRIA – A Modern Responsive SaaS Solution

Aurora Information Technology combines library experience and development passion, to create a library management system that meets the needs of our member Libraries.

What is Aurora Astria?

Aurora Astria is a web-based SaaS (System as a service) Library Management system, designed for the librarian on the go.

Astria will become the new standard in LMS staff applications, with simplicity as the key. In Astria, AIT has created a clean look that complements the web catalogue, Aurora Montage. Aurora Astria is designed to eventually replace the functions performed via Aurora Desktop and yet can complement an existing Aurora Desktop installation with minimal training.

Utilising modern technologies Aurora Astria builds on the smarts of the Aurora Web Service via the new Aurora Core API to give the operator a fast and secure online experience.

Aurora Astria will enable all staff library functions including but not limited to:
  • Individual branding options
  • Format result grouping
  • Gallery displays for photographs and other images that allows the library to create online exhibitions.
  • Integrated digital collections including eBook, databases etc,
  • Stream music, video, and oral histories directly from Montage via our inbuilt media player
  • Non-traditional collections e.g. toys, tools, plans
  • Member login with self-profile management, reserve, renew and payment options.
  • New membership processing.
  • Responsive web design for all device types
  • Social media and sharing devices.
  • Moderated item review systems for authenticated users
  • Fine payments online via secure pay, provided in conjunction with Australia Post

Development Roadmap

Ait’s current development focus is on ensuring all components of the Aurora Desktop LMS are present within Aurora Astria

Multiple Aurora libraries are currently utilising the Astria as a circulation module as part of a co-operative process to provide real world UX feedback that feeds into our development program.

Currently Aurora Desktop and Aurora Astria are being developed in tandem with improvements made to Desktop being applied to Astria once the development is released.

Astria’s Modern framework will enable further developmental improvements, in the future, utilising Angular, the Aurora Core API, and Entity Framework.

Aurora Astria is being made progressively available to customers now with an official launch in late 2024.
